Today I played my composition in front of the class with Mr. John playing the chords. It was really fun and i enjoyed it. Things i have to improve on is to follow the tempo more. I tend to play to freely as a result a bit mess up. So i am learning to read the beats and play accordingly.

I am going to submit my booklet regarding pop vs classical music next meeting.

This is the classical song that i am going to keep on practicing. I forgot what it's called but i am going to keep on practicing that part because it is the hardest part.

Today, we made our reflection for our composition. I am done with my composition except for the lyrics in which i am going to add and give next session. I liked my composition because each part is very distinct and very different from the other. We were also told that we are going to make a booklet regarding classical music against popular music. We were told to cover their different styles and characteristics. The booklet is due next week so i will have plenty of time to work on it. I will start working on it on monday because we are going to discuss the topic in class that day.

For instrument class, i am going to keep on practicing this classical song who's name i forgot. I am also going to keep on practicing my composition.

Today we reviewed about diminished chords while the other got ready to perform the song. We learnt the intervals for a diminished chord which is 1 half and 1 half. After that the students who have not got the chance to perform last session sang the "Indonesia Pusaka" song. Some also sang again in order to increase their score. I am happy with my 8

Afterwards we were dismissed to our instrument class. We didn't do much but i will keep on practicing my composition.

Today we sung "Indonesia Pusaka" for our singing assessment in the second term. This is our first assessment of the term and i think it went quite well for me. I was very nervous at first but as the song went on i felt better. I reached all the notes, maybe not the high ones though I'm sure it was not that bad. I am satisfied with my singing today and afterwards we went to instrument class.

During instrument class we talked more about the classical songs. But what we did was not much. I handed my finale composition work in and the class ended. Next i am going to learn my composition and be fluent at it.

Today we reviewed the music theory about Major7 chords and Dominant 7 chords. At first i was a bit confused because i have forgotten some of it. But after we reviewed i understood it all again. We also handed in our MDW booklet and were told that we ned to print three pictures of our blog and the cover of our composer booklet to be stuck as prove that we did something last term. So next i am going to print those. I am also going to edit my music composition.

Last i was told to become host for the fright night event that is happening the day after. I will also be singing in order to make up for the girl who can't perform, I'm a bit nervous but I'm very excited to do it.

Today we continued working on our composition. Since I'm done with the whole composition I don't really do much this session. I wrote my set "A" of my composition on board and played it for the class. That was pretty much it.

Next I will edit my composition by adding bass to it so that it will sound better. I will also finish the MDW that was given today by the teachers

This is me practicing my composition. I am playing section "A" of my composition, the first part. I used the guitar to practice. I read the notes from my computer and play them simultaneously.

Today Mr John was absent so the other music teachers took his place. We made our composition today and were told that you are unlikely to find inspiration by just thinking, you should start writing and change from there on. So that was what i did and i finished my song. Though it is not as good yet, i am going to edit the notes to make the it sound more ideal and better. All we did today was the composition.

We are going to get our MDW booklet soon and we are going to finish it in a few days i reckon.

Today we learnt the minor scales. It wasn't that hard. The only difference was the intervals but not by much. I learnt it well and have understood it completely. I Also learnt about the sister chord. You can find the sister chord with the third not of the minor scale. I have a feeling that a pair of sister chords has the same amount of sharps but it's not clarfied yet.

In instrument class I started learning on a new classical song and it's really good. I am gong to keep on practicing the song

Today, had a revision regarding the major chords and major seven chords. I was questioned by Mr. John about a A flat major scale. After a moment of thought i am able to answer his question correctly. We didn't do much today. I spent most of my time at the mic today singing pop songs to the class while they're busy doing other things. Not much happened today.

Next i am going to copy all my blog entry to my music book as part of the personal engagement mark.

Today, we listed the scores we got on the four assessments we had. I am very happy with my score as I did pretty well. I am most happy with my music notation results because for me that was the toughest one and the one i'd expect to get bad on, other than playing the classical piece. My area of expertise is really just singing pop songs and doing presentations. But i did well on the notations, 8 of 8 and 29 of 30, near perfect. i was really happy. As for the classical piece, i had trouble with the tempo. But then i got to play the song again and got a 8.5 from an embarrassing 6.5. so it was all good.

I didn't really had any instrument class today as i decided to watch other students perform their song as it is to be posted on the exhibition. I didn't perform because i am not nearly as mastering my classical song. Next i am going to keep working on my other blog, IDU with tech

Today, we got our scores for the musical note assessment. I got a nearly perfect score which i am really proud of. My only mistake was one that i had totally no idea of. In a way i got my answer spot on but in piano its wrong. Too bad i don't play piano, at least not much anymore. I had a redo for my practical classical song today, i increased my score to 8.5 from an embarrassing 6.5. It was all good.

During instrument class we don't really do much. Next i am going to continue to post my entries and continue my project the one music has a IDU with technology

Today I was not expecting to be having any sort of of assessments. But apparently musical notations was indeed today. I did not panicked though, i knew i know all of them and that it would not be so hard. So i was confident about it and i think i managed to do a decent job on it. It was quick test and afterwards we had a long interment class session which we never had. Usually it was cut short due to the things we need to discuss during theory. But today was different.

We did not do much in instrument class really, that was because mr john was waiting for the others to finish their tests. We learnt a bit more about grenade today and for the next session, i would just work on my pro folio regarding me playing my classical song for the IDU with technology class

Today, we had to perform our classical song. I performed fur elise. I made a few mistakes, mostly because i didn't really believe myself that i could do the whole thing spotless. Now i know that i should be confident no matter what. I saw all the others perform too, they were really good and i really enjoyed the whole thing. Next lesson i am going to review my notes skills and continue practicing fur elise so that i can maybe increase my score.

During instrument class we are starting to learn grenade by bruno mars. We were told to bring a capo for the next lesson because to play the song we need it.

Today, in theory we learnt about major seven chords again. But this time we were told to make the first and  second inversion for it. It was really simple and we spent one session doing that which was easy. We were also told to submit our booklet latest by wednesday as it will be the last day of the term. Next up i am going to continue to practice my guitar for the performance

During instrument class we mainly listened to the different songs that mr John could play. He was really good. He showed us an array of songs that we could choose from but it was all very difficult at least for me. Like before i am just going to practice my guitar to play the Moonlight Sonata

18/8/11

Today we had a couple of the students sing a song again to improve their scores. I completed making the Major 7 chords today. I wrote all the chords in my music notebook and it was rather simple. During instrument class we further played the Pirates of the Caribbean theme song.

What was important today was that we finally decided on our big project. We were to play a song of our choice from the composer of our choice. I am going to make a booklet regarding Beethoven and submit it by wednesday latest, that is one of the projects. The other one is that i should play one of Beethoven's song in guitar. I am going to play Moonlight Sonata on guitar. So i am going to make the booklet and keep on practicing the moonlight sonata. I am going to post some videos regarding my practice.

Today, we learnt theory. We were told on the basics of the scales yet again and were told to do it on the board. It was quite difficult but really simple once you got the hang of it. We were taught major7 chords today and it was quite simple really. Just add the note that is seven notes after the root note. we were given homework regarding the major7 chords. We were also told that we are going to sing the national songs for the independence day.

During instrument class we learnt further about the Pirates of the Caribbean song. It was quite tricky, didn't get the some part but i memorized most of it.

Today, we did our presentation regarding the musical eras. I think i did pretty well in explaining all the of the characteristics of each eras of the music. My slide was pretty simple but it holds enough information and i managed to cover all of the important aspects of the era. Some of my group mates did not speak properly during the presentation, she was a bit quiet. Nonetheless it was an overall good performance and i am satisfied with it.

During instrument class we learnt the pirates of the Caribbean theme song again. This time we get into the latter parts of the song. It was really tricky and i am going to keep on practicing to make it fluent in the coming session.

Today we were grouped into groups of three each and told to present to the class about the different musical eras and during each era, the composer that we consider to be the best. We discussed our presentation in one corner of the classroom and discussed about who is doing which part of the project. From that discussion, i am going to do the musical eras and present their differences and developments. Whereas Verena and Tathia are going to go deep in explaining the profile of each of the composer. We are told to pick one composer that we consider to be the best of them all. in other words our hero.

Next session we are supposed to present a powerpoint slide regarding the topic. It is suppose to be much more formal and informative compared to the spontaneous presentation that we did this session.

There weren't any instrument sessions due to the fact that two students hadn't done their singing assessment.

Today it was all about singing. I did my song which is 'Better Man' by Robbie Williams. I think i did the song justice. I sang it pretty well and i played the guitar well too. I was very nervous during the performance but i managed to keep on singing and not forgetting the lyrics. All two sessions of music were dedicated to the singing thing and so there are not a lot happening. The others sang well, particularly Blanks, she sounded like Norah Jones, she was amazing.

Next week we were told to research about the musical eras and their composer, i am going to bring my research on monday.

Today, we were thought on the musical theories. It turned out to be pretty easy and simple. The hard part of course is reading it while playing, that will take time. But i understood everything that was thought. I did not write the notes down because if were to write the notes i would not be paying enough attention to the lesson. We were then instructed to go in front of class and introduce ourselves so that we would be comfortable because next session we are having the singing assessment. Next i would continue practicing my singing and playing and think about the theory occasionally.

During instrument class, we learnt pirates of the Caribbean song in which Mr. John thought us. It was really cool. I managed to memorize the first set of pattern and will continue to practice it at home. Right now, i have managed to play the pattern fluently already. it has been a day since yesterday so i had enough time to make my playing fluent. Next im going to wait to be thought the next set of the song and practice hard on it.

I am also thinking about playing the music for Verena's assessment in order to get extra marks. We are rehearsing and fingers crossed, i hope things work out and we could deliver a brilliant performance whilst i get an extra mark.

Today we got briefed by Mr. John and Mr. Herry regarding this semester's events, assessments and project. We're apparently going to have to sing sometime around next week to kick off our series of grueling upcoming assessments. They also told us what were the criterions and what we should bring to the class, which were five things. Clear folder, music book, guitar, student journal and writing tools. We wrote down everything in our journals so that we won't forget it. Next session, we are expected to sing in front of class. we are to sing any pop song an be assessed. So that is what i am practicing now.

During instrument session, all we did was get to know each other and played a song of our liking. There was not much going on today as it the time was scarce. I was told though that i am recommended to use nylon string guitars rather than steel ones. But i can say my fingers are hard and i have grown fond of both guitars.
