Improvisation in C

In this video I am improvising with the blues scale in C.

I am pretty happy with this improvisation, there are lots of emotion and up and downs. It is not flat and it is not boring. I also loved the sound of the blues scale in C, i believe it makes each note seem more alive and meaningful.

I will continue practice improvisations on other scales and improve my guitar playing further.

12 Bar Blues Composition Practice

In this video I am practicing my 12 Bar Blues composition. I did an improvisation of my noted improvisation and I thought it went pretty well. My original noted improvisation seems a bit flat and in this video i sort of spiced it up a bit by making some parts more complicated which will be extremely tough to note down. Nonetheless I will continue practicing the song and make myself second nature to it.

12 Bar Blues Improvisation #3

In this video I am yet again practicing my 12 Bar Blue Improvisation. This time, I played the improvisation in a more flowing and expressive manner. I tried not to rush it but increase the emotions attributed each note instead. I think this is pretty good. I will still continue practicing it though.

12 Bar Blues Improvisation Practice #2

In this video I am practicing the improvisation that I have written down on paper and made in Finale. My playing was decent, I was much better to the mid-section than I was last time however, my ending was awful and messy. I still need to work on them further.

12 Bar Blues Improvisation Practice #1

In this video I am playing my melody in the 12 Bar Blues Improvisation piece I had to do. The middle section was not played well and could have been smoother. But saying that, the ending was decent and the whole video was decent. I'll continue to work on my melody.

Blues Scale in A + Licks using the Scale

In this video I am practicing the Blues scale again. In the later part of the video I played some licks that were based on the same scale. The songs were "Black Dog" by Led Zeppelin and "Sunshine of My Love" by Cream. I have also picked better and played it faster while not having to reduce its clarity. I will continue to practice the scales.

Blues Scale in A

In this video I am practicing the Blues scale in A. The playing was decent, it could have been better by picking the notes cleaner and more precise. Instead of just playing the scale I could have tried to make some licks or play some licks that uses the same scale.

12 Bar Blues Chords

In this video I am playing the 12 bar blues chords.

I am using the chord progression of I IV I I - IV IV I I - V IV I V in the key of A7. I repeatedly strum the string downwards, producing a "chucking" sound. In the middle of the video my strumming changes and I also added some variations to the chords  to make it more interesting.

I will try to make another accompaniment based on another key and explore the different sounds the different key offers.

Jazz Chords Week 1 Lesson

In this video I am practicing the different Jazz Chords. I even made some original tune. The jazz chords really do give a soft and classy feel sound and it is really elegant. Playing jazz chords are interesting and I am going to experiment on it further.

11 Feb 2013

In this video I am practicing my blue improvisation. I improvised through a I IV I I - IV IV II - V IV I V chord progression on A7. This time I played much more freely and experimented with more notes that i thought worked well. With experimentation comes some mistakes of course, but in turn i developed a better ear for musical notes and a bit more control over the fretboards of my guitar.

11 Feb 2013

In this video I am improvising on the chord progression given in class. It was a I IV I I - IV IV I I - V IV I V blues chord progression on A7. I thought I played decent although I was limiting myself to only play the scale and not explore it further which I should have. Play the chords while listening to the video and it will sort of make sense.
