Chord 11 Progressions - Continued

In this video I am continuing the chords of the previous video. I am exploring the possible chords that will sound good. This will allow myself to make more dynamic and diverse melodies. I still strum the chords as I thought it was the best way to go.

Next time I will try to use picking instead and see what atmosphere it creates instead.

11th Chord Progressions

In this video 11th chord progressions for relaxation song is played. I tuned the guitar differently so that I am able to use my thumb to play because it is easier that way. I have made a few melodies and this is the accompaniment I used for it. It is nice and classy and gives a sense of ambience and serene feeling.

Now I am going to try and practice without the alternative tuning and to strum it clearer and cleaner.

C9 Based Tune w/ Pick

Similar to the previous video I am playing roughly the same tune with the same chords. This time however I used the pick.

With the use of the pick the chords sounds strong yet conservative; not too showy. Very Marr-esque. This could be used when in a song we want to change emphasis and tempo altogether escaping to a whole new dimension of space and time. Again, I love it, very interesting indeed.

I am going to explore what strumming patterns will suit the chords more and to see whether a certain kind can accentuate certain emotions.

Tune Around C9 w/ Fingers

I have found C9 chords very interesting lately. Theory-wise and applying it in notation i'm not as competent but when playing the chords, boy does it feel good. It resonates a certain feel of smooth class with an edge.

This is a tune I came up with a few days back when I was told what a C9 and C11 looks like and more specifically how to play it in the guitar. I noodled around and came up with this. It is a combination of both chords but mostly about 9th chords. I finger picked this one. It gives an even smoother sound and feel to it, very good for jazz songs and ambient music. Even some sound like the chords Johnny Marr would use. Very intriguing indeed.

I will continue to explore the chords in the future.

Major 11th Chords

In this video I am strumming major 11th chords. The chords sounds very interesting and it gives a totally different vibe than the any other chords.

The 11th Major Chord gives a the sharpness of the 7th chord and the serenity and calmness of the 9th. It is attacking but doing so subtly, it is great for relaxing tunes for where the song needs an extra kick. Extra kick like in the bridge or chorus where the song could change moods.

I am going to further explore the chords to see if there are any other variations that give a whole new different vibe.

Major 9th Chords

In this video I am messing around with different major 9th chords. I strummed the chords with variations and jumps to create an interesting tune.

The major 9th chords give a real serene and clear vibe to the atmosphere. The chord should be very useful when making ambient relaxing music. Compared to the joyous and generic major chord and the sharp 7th chord, the Major 9th is way more clear and relaxing.

I am going to further explore 9th chords and started learning the minor 9th and original 9th chords with the 7th note lowered half a step.
