21 January 2013

We learnt further on violin playing and we were taught on how to play some parts of the A major scale in the violin too.

Playing the violin is tricky because it has no frets and we have to put our fingers by feel and hopefully later naturally by muscle memory. We did several patterns on the open strings and learnt how to play the violin well with our left hand which is supposed to press the notes. I am getting better at playing the bow because I am able to make a nice tone from the violin. I use to make a scratching sound that does not only hurt my own ears but I believe the students around me too. But I have got quite used to it and I am improving. There is still a lot to learn.

To conclude today's activity, I learnt more about the violin and how to play some parts of the A major scale. It is pretty difficult but when you get the hang of it, it is an amazing instrument to be able to play.
